Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2015 Verified Purchase This is a real love/hate product. If it wasn't for it's big CON (see below) I would consider this my new "GO TO" 12v pump. The big glaring CON: Numerous places online sell Wayne replacement impellers for about $15. Not bad, but it will cost that much or more in my time if I have to hover around the pump for it to finish rather than being productive while the pump is running. I've got a $40 300-GPH pump that has no problem going 10+ minutes pumping nothing but air. Sadly, I bought this pump hoping it would be more heavy-duty than that cheap pump. If Wayne fixes this unit by getting rid of the rubber impeller and going with any of the many impeller designs that don't generate heat when run dry, I'd recommend this unit in a second. Everything else on the unit appears top notch. Reviewed in the United States on May 14, 2015 Verified Purchase IN REALITY, ACTUAL USE STATS: Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2018 Verified Purchase Very happy with this powerful, portable 12 volt pump. I'm using it to draw clean water from a 100 gallon tank mounted on a heavy-duty cart to deliver water to several dozen oak trees I grew from acorns. Each tree has a 5 gallon bucket with weep holes on the bottom of one side and three inches of play sand for debris filtering and ballast, making the effective bucket capacity a bit less than 5 gallons. Consistent with the pump rating, it takes under a minute to fill. Worked right out of the box with no problems. Bought a cheap marinade injector that works great to easily and neatly squirt a tablespoon of vegetable oil in each port before starting the motor. The outlet port didn't accept the whole tablespoon but the pump still worked flawlessly. Now that I know everything works, the only modification I plan to add is a wireless remote control relay so I can turn the pump on and off from the seat of my tractor, which will speed up the process tremendously. Nope, I have no connection with the seller. I simply admire well-made products and I want to return the favor for all the helpful reviews from others. Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2020 Verified Purchase On both ends of power cable, I cut and installed 30 Amp Anderson Power Pole connectors. I can use the cable with switch on other 12VDC devices. All my devices now have those connectors. The GHT x 3/4" PEX adapters fit the pump, however, the 3/4" PEX actual measurement is 0.64" OD and is a tad small for 3/4" ID braided tubing. The tubing that fit good is 5/8" ID (0.625). Using that size, however slight undersized for the mfg recommended size, the pump appears to be working fine. I chose to use the thick wall braid reinforced tubing because it's resistant to collapsing under suction. Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2018 Verified Purchase Used product 3 times . Worked good 1st 2 times and on third time cant even get it to turn on? Each time after use I put it away in box, except for hose and filter part. Used it for no longer than 10 minutes each time. Not happy a all, now I have to deal with warranty on returning and everything. One upset customer! Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2021 Verified Purchase I bought this pump to water trees from a 40 gallon water tank in the back of my JD gator. I had problems right away with the wire separating from the connector inside the pump. It was loose. I took the pump apart several times to try and fix this and finally was able to get it tight. Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2018 Verified Purchase So far this little pump has been a time and worksaver for me. I have 6 full sized soccer fields that have zoned irrigation and am constantly repairing minor and major leaks on all of them because of the unrelenting use of mowers, slicers and re-seeding equipment ALL the time when the fields aren't being used. When we need to pump out a hole quick, using the battery from our Toro Workman Utility Carts, it's done in a matter of minutes instead of bailing or sloppy bucket brigades. The unit is still working fine after 12 repairs on a 15 year old irrigation system as shown in the photos. Paid for itself after the first three repairs! 5.0 out of 5 stars Very Handy Portable Pump! Pros:
Good motor
Nice on/off switch
Decent battery clamps.
Great pumping speed
Built with user-serviceable parts
Replacement parts easy to find.
Nice price
Self-primes well
The impeller on this pump is rubber and the unit has no thermal shutdown. What this means is that if the tank you are draining runs dry and you don't get to the pump very, very quickly, the impeller quickly burns itself up while running dry. I was shocked to discover that after about 1-2 minutes of running dry my impeller had turned itself into burnt crumbly gunk that I had to clean out. I was working in the other room, heard the sound change (indicating the pump had run dry) and took about a minute to put away what I was working on and went to shut it down. By the time I got there, I could smell burning rubber. This is pretty pathetic for a utility pump.
Takes a car or glass mat battery --- a 20 Amp DC power supply was unable to start the motor
12VDC >20 Amps to Start the pump
12 VDC >11 Amps to Run a new pump
~ 110 Watts Run Consumption
To drain a 55 gallon water barrel takes about 17 minutes w/o back pressure
~2.7 Amp hours consumption running for 17 minutes.
Motor ran cool to touch after 17 minutes.
Pumps water fast & works good. Using 15' on suction side, pumping to 100 gallon tank about 18' up a 8-9 degree hill.
Now, to see how long it lasts.
Then the pump died. I bought a $30 pump that works fine.
Recently I had time to take it apart and see what the new trouble is. Bearing is frozen to shaft. Brushes and impeller all in great condition as I hardly ever used this pump. I tapped the bearing off and now Im trying to buy new bearing. Sales associate was nice at Wayne pump but they could not tell me where to buy a new bearing.
Seems like they just buy these off shore and resell. And don't have access to parts.
For me this is really a wasted of $100.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very suitable for 'Sump Pump' back-up

I wanted some back up in case of pump or power failure so I don't have to bail. Tried this and it seems adequate. The short intake (included), hose they sent is useless and had so many 'kink' it wouldn't draw. (Pamphlet states " avoid kinks", so why send a kinked hose? ) dumb !!! R.W Welland, Ont.
Fortunately I had kept a hose from a previous clothes washer which served perfectly. Battery to suit was very heavy, & cost me $140.00, CDN.. (Marine cycling type). Pumping water flow typical of garden hose turned on medium pressure.
5.0 out of 5 stars DC saves the day when AC left the house

Used this DC(battery)water transfer motor to back up my regular AC sump pump in my basement when the power goes out . It has a manual off/on switch which means you have to be in attendance you can't leave it unless you change the switch to a floating water switch . When powered the pump makes low level noise . Easy to install. My regular sump pump operates 24/7 all year long & the DC backup is required when AC power is disrupted . The new DC motor has good suction but certainly can't move the amount of water as quickly as the regular AC sump pump motor. This past Thursday we had approx. 48"/120mm & the power was not interrupted, the week before another storm with less rain and the power was out for 8 hrs & the only backup was myself with a scrub pail & a sink near by . That was a lot of work !!!

Used this to transfer water from water packs to my campers onboard water tank for music festivals. Drains a 5 gallon pack in under a minute. Super fast. Super easy. Self priming feature is easy too. Just dump some olive oil in both inlet and outlet of pump before you connect water hose. I used this so I could shower all weekend without concern of water usage. Definitely worth the investment. In an absolute survivalist pinch I would be able to pump from clean rivers directly into my camper in disaster type scenarios and that was appealing to me as well. (I live in northern Canada near the Rockies so natural water quality is very high and I regularly drink from the rivers unfiltered)

Our boat has been leaking slightly and this is so much easier than the hand pump we've been using. It does a much better job too. No water left after pumping so easier on boat gas too. Very pleased with this purchase.
